Move allows company to offer new, expanded drug development services

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – September 29, 2003 - Pharmatek Laboratories, Inc. today announced the
opening of a new pharmaceutical chemistry development laboratory located in the heart of San
Diego's BioPharma region. This is the third move in 5 years for the fast growing provider of
pharmaceutical chemistry development services. The facility includes 10,888 square feet of
space including formulation, analytical and dissolution laboratories, ICH stability storage, office
space and two newly built GMP manufacturing suites.
"Our focus has always been to get our clients' molecules from discovery into the clinic as
efficiently as possible. This facility allows us to bring more process controls, better QA systems,
and superior formulation and manufacturing facilities to our clients' pharmaceutical products,"
said Jeffrey A. Bibbs, Ph.D., Pharmatek's Chief Executive Officer. "In particular, this allows us
to significantly increase our formulation development, GMP manufacturing and stability storage
capabilities."
The new facility is more than triple the size of Pharmatek's previous laboratory space and has
been designed to support the companies' growth in drug development services and also provide
room for additional expansion. The new facility build-out includes expanded analytical and
formulation development laboratories, increased capacity for ICH stability storage and testing,
registered GMP manufacturing suites and CTM storage.
As large pharmaceutical companies, generic drug manufacturers and biotech start-ups outsource
development work at an increasing rate, Pharmatek is positioning itself to support these
companies to manage internal resource constraints, solve unique formulation challenges and
exploit the full potential of their product pipelines.
